Introduction: In this passage of scripture we see how the “gospel of peace” goes forth to all who believe. God has missionaries all over the world. Men and women who have heard and obeyed the calling of God in their life.
The Gospel of Peace Involves:
- A Lost Person– Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved”. “Whosoever”- Anyone and everyone, no matter who they are. Regardless of race, color, nationality, background, wealthy, poor, immoral, moral, good, bad, diseased, healthy, deformed or attractive. People are Lost without Christ- Romans 3:23. “Shall Call upon the name of the Lord”- The name of Jesus Christ has saving power. Acts 4:12 “for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”. John 5:24 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life”. “Shall be Saved”- This is assurance “shall”. God wants all people to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.
- A Preacher– Romans 10:14 “How shall they hear without a preacher? A preacher here is any believer who bears witness to the Lord Jesus Christ. That’s You! People cannot hear unless somebody tells them. This is why preaching matters, missionaries matter, local churches matter. Someone has to Go- Kingsville is our mission field. Acts 1:8.
- A Church that Sends– Romans 10:15 “And how shall they preach, except they be sent? Before there is preaching there must be sending. Not everyone is called to go to the mission field but every believer can have a part in sending. Philippians 4:17 “Not because I desire a gift: but I desire fruit that may abound to your account”. Isaiah said “Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me”. We can Pray– Matthew 9:37-38 “Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into his harvest”. Missionaries, his family, souls, open doors, wisdom and boldness. We can Give– II Corinthians 9:6 “But this I say, He which south sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which south bountifully shall reap also bountifully”. This money doesn’t just go to the missionary but the gospel. Matthew 6:20 “But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal”. This has eternal value. Someone may hear, believe, and be saved. We can Go– Mark 16:15 “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. Perhaps God wants you to take a short missions trip or go to the mission field.
- Great Results– vs 15 “How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace”.
- The Messenger- This person has “beautiful feet”. This is a person that pleases God.
- The Lost Person- this person receives the message and believes and receives peace. Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”.
Conclusion: Will you pray, give, or go? Perhaps you are lost, so what you must do is call upon the name of the Lord to be saved.
