A Mother’s Example ( I Sam 1:27)

Introduction: This morning I would like to show you good examples of motherhood. Don’t feel incapable, unworthy, less valuable, or like a failure if you are not doing these. There is no mother who is perfect, but we should work on learning and getting better. These mothers had at least one good quality we can all learn from. 

  1. A Mother’s Courage– Exodus 2:2-3; Hebrews 11:23 “they were not afraid of the king’s commandment”. Courage enables a person to encounter danger and difficulties with firmness, or without fear. Jochebed obeyed God rather than man- Acts 5:29 “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men”. Jochabed did the next right thing for her child. Mothers of Courage to fight for their children so they don’t go the way of the world. Trust God for the future of your children. Do your part to keep them from the World. 
  1. A Mother’s Prayer-  I Samuel 1:27 “For this child I prayed”. What a testimony from a godly mother. A vow is a promise made to God. Samuel was lent to the Lord for the rest of his life until he died. I Samuel 1:1-2, 5, 10-11, 20-22, 27-28; 2:18-19. Pray for your children every day, it could keep them away from something. God heard her prayers- God hears, remembers, and acts according to His will. Prayer works. She gave her child to the Lord- Lend your child to the Lord, it’s the best you could do. (Baby dedication). 
  1. A Mother’s Faith– II Kings 4:8-37 The Great Woman of Shunem. This woman had great faith in God’s power and calm trust in God. She ran to God not away- When her son died, she ran toward God, not away from Him. She looked for the man of God. That’s faith. Calm trust in God- All is well when you have faith and trust in our Lord, everything will be okay- vs 23, vs 26. 
  1. A Mother’s Godly Fear – Proverbs 31:27-30 “but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised”. That is the secret to this woman’s life, the fear of God. She fears God and seeks to obey His Word. Her true beauty is within- I Peter 3:1-2 Her conversation is coupled with fear. When a mother fears the Lord: Vs 14-15 She will make sure they’re fed. Vs 16 she works hard Vs 18 she stays up lateVs 21- She will clothe her children.Vs 24 she works to help out Vs 26 she speaks well to her children Vs 27 she is not idle 
  1. A Mother’s Training– II Timothy 1:5 Timothys mother and grandmother had unfeigned faith, that is, a real faith, sincere faith, one that is not counterfeit. Children can spot a fake, one way at church and another way at home. 
  • Taught Timothy the scriptures from a young age- II Timothy 3:14-15 from child known the scriptures able to make wise. Proverbs 22:6 Train them up in the way he should go. Lead your children to Jesus so they can get saved. Keep your children in Church so they can continue to grown in the grace and knowledge of our savior Jesus Christ. Choose church over other events. Pray with your children. Have devotions at night. Answer their questions. Be a good example they want to follow. 

Conclusion: These are good motherly examples worth following. If your doing these keep going. If your not, start now and see the blessings of God.
