Introduction: What is revival- “an awakening of men to their spiritual concerns”. We need revival when we become weak, cold, distracted, or even distant from God. Revival is for God’s people to be brought back to a place of spiritual life, power, obedience, and usefulness. We are having our church revival tomorrow and Tuesday. Pastor Welder is coming to preach and be a help to our church. And I am adding myself to this sermon, WE need revival.

We Need Revival When: 

  1. We’ve Lost Our Christian Joy- Psalm 51:8,10,12 Joy- the passion or emotion excited by the expectation of good. That excitement of pleasurable feelings which is caused by success. These things can rob you of your joy- Sin, discouragement, bitterness, disappointment, busyness, and spiritual neglect. 
  1. Bible Reading and Prayer is Not a Desire– Luke 4:1-4 The Bible is how God communicates with us and Prayer is how we communicate with Him. If you are not reading your Bible daily, you are getting weaker by the day, vulnerable to the devil and his attacks. I Peter 2:2 “As new born babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby”. Read it, hear it, meditate upon it, study it, believe it, obey it. If you are not praying, God is not obligated to do anything for you. James 4:2 “Ye have not, because ye ask not”. I Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing”. Prayer shouldn’t be rushed, occasional, mechanical, or just for emergencies, it should be daily. 
  1. Our First Love is Not Jesus Christ– Revelation 2:4. You can be in church, carry your Bible, sing hymns, give tithes and offerings, working and laboring for God, all the while your heart is cold toward the Lord- they left their first love. Revelation 3:17 “I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing”.
  1. Church Becomes a Routine or You Don’t Want to Be in Church– Hebrews 10:25. Acts 2:42-47. Forsaking- laving or deserting.  As the manner of some is- some people are used to just going to church once a week. Some will prioritize according to what they have going on. 
  1. Sin Creeps In to Our Lives– Hebrews 12:1 “Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us”. Psalm 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me”. A little compromise, a little wordiness, a little dishonesty, a little unforgiveness, a little neglect, a little laziness, Something that used to bother us doesn’t bother us anymore. 
  1. We’re Loosing Sight of the Great Commission– Matthew 28:19-20. When Lost Family and Friends don’t matter to You. How many people have you led to the Lord this year? Discipled this year? 

Conclusion: Church revival start tomorrow at 6:30pm, but preparation shouldn’t start tomorrow night, It starts today. We need to be revived individually. Our homes need revival. Our Church needs revival. Don’t miss out on this revival. First of all be here, thats the first step. And secondly, come expecting to hear from God and be obedient to what He shows you to do. Don’t miss out!
