Introduction: In this passage of scripture we’re told to glorify God in your body. Our body belongs to God, so every part of our life should brought under His authority. It’s not (my body my choice). When we break down our body, we have different parts, and each part does something different but each part must bring glory to God.
Are You Glorifying God with:
1. What Your Mind Thinks– II Corinthians 10:3-5 Before someone does something first he begins to think about it. What are you allowing your mind to think about. Are your thoughts pleasing to God?
2. What Your Eyes See– Psalm 101:3 “I will set no wicked things before mine eyes”. Job 31:1 “I made a covenant with mine eyes; why then should I think upon a maid”. What are you watching on your phone or allowing your children to watch on their phones. It can bring good or bad things in.
3. What Your Ears Hear– Proverbs 4:20-22 Don’t listen to gossip, filthy conversations, false doctrine, music that defiles the soul, someone complaining, Podcasts, conversations that dishonor God. Guard the things that enter the ear.
4. What Your Mouth Consumes– I Corinthians 10:31 “Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God”. Drinking, Smoking, Drugs, Gluttony. I Corinthians 6:12 “I will not be brought under the power of any”. Do you control it or does it control you. (Man take drink, drink take drink, drink take man).
5. What Your Tongue Says – Ephesians 4:29 “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth”. James 3:5-6 Praise or criticism, encouragement or discouragement, truth or lies, kindness or cruelty. Psalm 141:3 “Set a watch, O Lord, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips”.
6. What’s in Your Heart-. Matthew 15:19-20. Proverbs 23:7 “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he”. Proverbs 4:23 “Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life”
7. What Your Hands Touch– I Timothy 2:8 “ I will therefore that men pray everywhere, singing up holy hands, without wrath and doubting” Don’t use your hands for violence, theft, impurity, or unclean work. To gesture to the one that cut you off.
8. Where Your Feet Go– Proverbs 1:15-16 Your fee reveal where your heart is willing to go. Where do you go when no one from church is watching?
Conclusion: Your body is not your own, it belongs to God, he bought it with the precious blood of Jesus Christ, therefore glorify Him by always doing what is right!
