Introduction: This week some of our teens had an opportunity opportunity to attend youth camp. There were 37 teens and 3 received Jesus Christ as their personal savior. Often times after being in the mountain top of teen camp we wonder, what can we do to keep the excitement going, and to continue gain spiritual ground?
- The Teens Should Continue– Colossians 2:6-7 “if ye continue in my word”.
- Set up a daily quiet time- Keep reading your Bible, praying, be in church (the basics).
- Make friends of other Christians, loose non-christian friends.
- Stay accountable to God and other friends.
- Practice the things that you heard preached at in camp. James 1:22 Buy be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves”.
- Walk in the truth- this Bible is truth. John 17:17 “Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth”.
- The Parents Should Engage– Deuteronomy 6:6-7
- First of all, if you are the parent of a teen that went to camp and you are not saved, you need to get saved.
- Fathers, lead the home spiritually- it’s your responsibility. Joshua 24:15 “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord”.
- Lead devotions at night. Lead in prayers. Answer spiritual questions, ask questions. Be concerned.
- Bring them to church every time the doors are opened.
- Model obedience and a good example worth following. Teens are watching you.
- The Church Should Encourage– Titus 2:3-4
- Don’t despise their youth- I Timothy 4:2 “Let no man despise thy youth”.
- Encourage our teens to get involved and stay involved. Help them with their fundraisers.
- Be a mentor / teacher to the teens.
- Enable the teens to be involved in VBS, greeting, music, door knocking, etc.
- Push ourselves- “only one life twill soon be past, only whats done for Christ will last”. If we say we can/can’t they’re both right. “I can do all things through Christ”.
- The Pastor Should Equip– II Timothy 2:2- I must commit to FAITHFUL men. We must find faithful men to continue in the work God has given us.
- This was a huge sacrifice for me but I did it. II Corinthians 12:15 “And I will very gladly spend and be spent for you”.
- I will continue to encourage teen activities and events.
- I will continue to preach and teach without apology.
Conclusion: Camp was a spark, and it will take great work to become a fire, but don’t let the fire die down, do your part.
