Introduction: In this message we will see several infallible proofs of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Passion is the suffering and eventual death on the cross. Infallible proofs are proofs that are not liable to fail or deceive confidence. These proofs are beyond a reasonable doubt, they would hold up in court.
The Empty Tomb– Matthew 27:62-66, 28:5-6- the tomb was guarded and there was no way for the body of Jesus to be stolen. The missing body of Jesus Christ is something they tried to cover up to make people believe that it didn’t happen. The empty tomb proves Jesus Rose from the dead.
- The Guards-Matthew 27:62 they set a watch.
- The Rolled away Stone- Matthew 27:62 This stone was sealed and heavy.
- The Cover up- Matthew 28:11-15. With all the security there was no way that anyone could come and roll away the great stone and steal the body of Jesus Christ.
The Angel’s Conformation– Matthew 28:1-7 Angels only do what God tells them to do or say. The angels themselves confirmed that Jesus Chris was not there, that he was risen and showed them.
- The Angels “rolled back the stone from he door- for their sakes, to show them.
- The Angels Said “He is not here” -the women had seen Jesus being put in the tomb.
- The Angels Said “He is risen”- the angels knew what had taken place and witnessed it.
- Luke 24:1-9 vs 5 “Why seek ye the living among the dead”.
- Psalm 103:20 “Bless the LORD, ye his angels, that excel in strength, that do his commandments, hearkening unto the voice of his word”.
The Witness Accounts– I Corinthians 15:3-8 Jesus Christ was seen after his death and resurrection from the dead by Cephas (Peter), the twelve disciples, above 500 witnesses, James, then all the apostles, then Paul saw him too.
The Fulfillment of Jesus’Prophecy– Luke 9:22; 13:32; 18:31-34; Mark 14:28 “But after I am risen, I will go before you into Galilee”. This is important because He said he would do it and He did it.
- Titus 1:2 “In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot life, promised before the world began”.
- Matthew 12:40 “For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whales belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth”.
- Psalm 16:10 “For thou wilt not leave my soul in hell; neither wilt thou suffer thine Holy One to see corruption”.
- Every prophecy in history has come to pass. Everything that Christ has said would happen has happen or will happen.
The Fulfillment of Scripture– Only one gospel message that has been consistent for thousand of years and has endured the test of time without variance. Preached by all true preaches and believed by all true believers.
- I Corinthians 15:12-22. People have tried to spread lies through time however, the truth has lasted the test of time.
- Consequences if there is no Resurrection:
- Christ is not risen from the Dead- 13
- Our Preaching is empty- 14
- Our faith is empty- 14
- We lie about God and bear false witness against God-15
- Christ is not raised- 17
- We are still in our sins -17
- Dead believers are perished- 18
- We are of all men most miserable- 19
Conclusion: The resurrection of Jesus Christ is crucial to the Christian faith. The resurrection of Jesus Christ assures the believer that he too shall be raised from the dead. Christ has been glorified, we all also be glorified one day praise the Lord!
If you have not believed in Jesus Christ, today is the day of salvation, and you too will be raised from the dead unto life eternal.
