Philip Preached Jesus to the Ethiopian (Acts 8:26-30)

When God spoke, Philip: 

  1. Arose- Vs 27 “And he arose”. Got up from where he was. God often says “get thee up”. Sitting down wont get us far if we need to get somewhere. We must get up first. 
  1. Went– Vs 27 “And he arose and went”. We have to go to the lost. Find them where they are, in their homes, Jobs, businesses, streets, etc. Philip got up and got going. We have to go where los people are. That’s the first thing God says, Go. That’s where people have the most trouble, in going.  Mark 16:15 “and he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. Jonah 3:2 “Arise, go unto Nineveh, that great city, and preach unto it the preaching that I bid thee”. And Jonah did not go. 
  1. Ran-Vs 30 “ And Philip ran thither to him”. There is urgency. It’s not enough to just walk there, life is short and our time here on earth is almost over. 
  1. Joined– Vs 29 “Go near, and join thyself to the chariot”. You have to find people where they are and get close to them. Develop a relationship. Take them to lunch, find out what interests them, what they like. 
  1. Heard– Vs 30 “heard him read the prophet Esaias” Listen to their concern. Heard him reading Isaiah 53. Always pay close attention to what people are doing at the precise moment in which you encounter them. It’s a good way to start a conversation. There nothing better than encountering someone and they’re reading their Bible, what a lay up. 
  1. Asked– Vs 30 “and said Understandest thou what thou readest?” Be ready to answer someone’s question from the Bible. You never know what someone is dealing with. Ask questions to clarify things. 
  1. Preached Jesus- Vs 35 “and preached unto him Jesus”. We must preach the gosple of Jesus Christ. Romans 10:14 “and how shall they hear without a preacher”. Lost people need a preacher that preaches Jesus Christ and His finished work on the cross of calvary. 
  • John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life; no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”. 
  • Vs 37 after being preached Jesus, the eunuch believed in Jesus Christ, then he was baptized. This is the model to follow for today. 
  1. Baptized the Eunuch– Vs 38 We must follow the command of our Lord Jesus Christ. Matthew 28:19 “Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost”. 

Conclusion: Just like the Ethiopian eunuch, there are many people around us that need someone to preach Jesus unto them, will you go?
