Why Christians Don’t Preach the Gospel (Mark 16:15)

Introduction: Mark 16:15 says “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”.  This command is still active today. We are to go and preach the gospel to every creature, wherever they may be found. However, that are many Christians today that are not preaching the gospel to others for whatever reason. Hopefully this message this morning will help us to get in line with God and do what he wants us to do.

Some Christians don’t preach the gospel because

  1. They Don’t Make it a Point to Go– Mark 16:15 we are to go. The charge that was given to those disciples is also given to us today. We are to GO! Thats the first step.
    • If you prioritize it – you’ll go.
    • If you put it in your calendar- you’ll go.
    • If you make it a point to reach others, you will see people in a different light.
  1. They Don’t Know What to Say– Mark 13:9-11 We should always be led by the Spirit no matter the situation we find ourselves in. Stop, pray, and wait for God to do the speaking. We are just a mouthpiece.
    • Start a natural conversation that leads to Spiritual matters.
    • Share your testimony. How you used to be, what Christ did, and how He is using you now.
    • Ask a person if they need prayer.
    • Give a person a tract or new testament Bible.
  1. They’ve Been Let Down– Luke 14:18-20 This passage of scripture has to do with the marriage supper. God wants his servants, that’s us, to keep inviting people to get saved and be a part of this supper.
    • You witness to people but don’t see a response or your let down so you quit.
    • Every person that refused the great supper had an excuse:
    • Property, business/Occupation, and family. Houses, lands, jobs, hobbies, sports, etc.
    • God doesn’t quit and the servant doesn’t quit. God says to invite the poor, maimed, halt, and blind instead, they’ll show up.
    • Galatians 6:9 “And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not”.
  1. They Forget about Hell’s Reality– Luke 16:19-26
    • Hell is a real place- vs 22-23 “In hell he lift up his eyes”.
    • Hell is a place of torment- vs 24 “for I am tormented in this flame”.
    • Hell is a place of regret vs 25 “in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things…but now”.
    • Hell is Forever- Eternal vs 26 “neither can they pass to us”.
  1. They’re Distracted With This World– Romans 8:5-8 Carnally minded Christians don’t please God.
    • Telling people about Jesus Christ is a spiritual work. Soul winning is spiritual work.
    • When we please ourselves with other things like self, comfort, ease, entertainment, lost souls are not that important.
  1. They’re Afraid– II Timothy 1:7 “For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind”.
    • Afraid of Rejection- what if they don’t take the Tract or Bible, I’ll feel bad.
    • Afraid of Judgment- what are they going to think of me
    • Afraid of being Associated with Jesus- They’ll think I’m a Jesus Freak. Mark 8:38
    • Afraid
  1. They Don’t Have an Urgency– James 4:13-14 “For what is your life? It is even a vapor”. People think theres plenty of time left. Life is but a vapor, here today gone tomorrow.
    • There’s always tomorrow, not really.
    • Today could be our last day, make it count.
    • Give me a passion for souls dear Lord -306

Conclusion: If you are preaching the gospel to every creature, keep it up. If you have room to grow and you heard something you can improve upon, then make the proper changes and get to preaching the gospel.

This coming Saturday, December 6th, at La Posada Parade, we have a great  opportunity to sow the seed of the Word of God and preach the gospel to lost people. Would you consider joining the church as we go pass out tracts and candies in the parade route. The more people we have, the more opportunities we will have to share the gospel with others.
