Introduction: The Bible has a lot to say about a Christian being ready for certain things in this life. We don’t just exist, die, and it’s over. We should be ready for things in the here and now and for future things also.
A Christian Should Be Ready:
- To Preach the Gospel– Romans 1:15 “So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also”.
- Don’t be Ashamed to Preach the Gospel
- The Gospel is the power of God unto Salvation
- Preach the gospel to Relatives, Co-Workers, Strangers, Friends, anyone that will listen.
- People can accept it or reject it, our duty is to preach it.
- A NT Bibles or Bible Tract can facilitate preaching the gospel.
- To Distribute– to give out portions. I Timothy 6:18 “ready to distribute, willing to communicate”. We should be ready to distribute what we have to those that don’t have: To those in Need- Romans 12:13 “Distributing to the necessity of the saints”. To the Poor- Luke 18:22 “sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor”. We have closets, garages, barns, and storage units that are full of stuff while other Christians are lacking and have need. We should see a need and be ready to distribute to others. Acts 20:35 “remember the words of the Lord Jesus, how he said, It is more blessed to give than to receive”.
- To Every Good Work– Titus 3:1 “to be ready to every good work”. He is to work and serve diligently. To be willing, prepared, ready to jump and raise his hand. This is not only in the church but in the community. People who are lonely, poor, shut it, elderly, orphaned, homeless, sick, etc. We don’t do good works to get saved but because we are saved. Help an older person cross the road, push a car that’s out of gas, open a door for someone, pick up something that falls, give money from groceries, etc. We should walk in Good Works- Ephesians 2:10 “For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them”. Hebrews 13:16 “But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.
- To Give an Answer of His Hope– I Peter 3:15 “But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason for the hope that is in you with meekness and fear”. If you are saved, you have the “hope” of eternal life with God. Hope is a desire with expectation. Always be ready to tell others of this hope we have. How they can be saved and receive assurance of eternal life. Are you prepared, could you open a Bible and tell someone how to get saved? Right it down in the cover of your Bible. Proverbs 16:1 “The preparation of the heart in man, and the answer of the tongue, is from the Lord”. You get ready and God takes it from there.
- To Die– Acts 21:13 “for I am ready not to be bound only, but also to die as Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus”. Are you prepared to Die? Paul is ready to die because he has made peace with God. Romans 5:1 “Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ”. A Christian is ready to die because he has made peace with God- Have You ?
- For the Rapture– I Thessalonians 4:13-17 “Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord int he air”. This is known as the rapture, it is the return of Christ for the Church. This is the next event in the calendar. Are you looking up in anticipation of His return. Luke 12:40 “Be ye therefore ready also: for the Son of man cometh at an hour when ye think not”. Revelation 22:20 “He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus”.
- To Meet God– II Corinthians 5:10-11 “Knowing therefore the terror of the Lord, we persuade men”. To meet God is to get Judged by God. Are you ready to be judged by God? This judgment won’t be a walk in the park if you have been a Christian that has been unfaithful in your service for God. This is not a judgment of Sin but of Works, I Corinthians 3:11. Not only can you loose your rewards but it goes deeper “Get faithful in your service for Christ so you can be ready to meet God. Don’t get caught doing something that is not right, live a life that is righteous.
Conclusion: A christian should be ready to do each and everyone of these things, It’s that important.
