Introduction: After the Great White Throne Judgement there will be a “new heaven and a new earth” then “a new Jerusalem”. This new Jerusalem is our “Heaven” for eternity. This city, new Jerusalem will come down from God out of heaven to the new earth, and believers will spend their eternity “in heaven” upon the New Earth.
Heaven Is:
1. Where God Dwells– Revelation 21:3- “God himself shall be with them”. Revelation 22:5 “the Lord God giveth them light”.
- Revelation 21:23 “The lamb is the light thereof”. God and the lamb, Jesus Christ are present in this place.
- Matthew 6:9 “Our Father which art in heaven”.
- Revelation 22:4 see Him and worship him face to Face- Revelation 21:22. (Face to Face Hymn 511).
- Man today tries to fill his longing with all sorts of worldly pleasures and possession but nothing satisfies, there is no meaning, no purpose, emptiness, fear and failure, but when God is there and present, it will be amazing.
- We will see God face to face, share, discuss, worship, praise, and offer thanks.
- We will have the glorious privilege of living face to face with our wonderful Lord!
- Matthew 5:8 “Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God”.
2. A Happy Place– Revelation 21:4 “And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes”. With the passing away of sin, the affects of sin are not there. There will be joy and happiness.
- Completeness of Joy and fullness of peace.
- Isaiah 64:4 “For since the beginning of the world men have not heard, nor perceived by the ear, neither hath the eye seen O God, beside thee, what He hath prepared for him that waiters for Him”.
- No war, death, aging, murder, no regret, guilt, failure, hunger, pain, cancer, parting tears, disappointment, stress, can’t pay bills.
- We will have a new glorified body that doesn’t age, get sic, or die. No more funerals, or cemeteries, or burial grounds.
3. A Place Free from Sin- Revelation 21:8; 22:3, 22:7- The people spoken of here are in the lake of fire. No More Curse. We will not be tempted.
- No More Death- Isaiah 25:8 “He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from off all faces”.
- No More Sin- James 1:15 “Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin when it is finished, bringeth froth death”.
- Philippians 3:20-21 “who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself”.
4. A Beautiful Place– Revelation 21:18-21 (As a bride adorned for her husband vs 2). This new city, New Jerusalem measures 12.000 furlongs, this is 1,500 miles long, 1,500 miles wide, and 1,500 miles hight. It would reach from Maine to Florida, and from the Atlantic Seaboard 600 miles to the west of the Mississippi Rivers. It would occupy more than one-half of the United states.
- Walls made of jasper- a crystal like rock that is green in color.
- The city is made of pure gold- clear as glass.
- The twelve foundations are decorated with every kind of precious stone. Jasper a transparent crystal; Sapphire a blue stone; Chalcedony a white translucent stone; Emerald a green stone; Sardonyx a red and white stone; Sardius a brownish-red stone; Chrysolite a golden stone; Beryl a stone like frozen fire; Topaz a light yellow- orange stone; Chrysoprasus a golden green stone; Jacinth a dusky red stone; Amethyst a light purple crystal.
- The twelve gates are huge pearls
- The streets made of pure gold, so pure, it looks like glass.
- Paul said “For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better”.
5. Perfectly Protected– Revelation 21:27 “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination or maketh a lie, but they that are written in the Lambs book of life”.
- Matthew 6:19-20 “ where neither moth nor rust doe corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal”.
- Your name must be Written in the Lab’s book of life- John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I Am the way, the truth, and the life no man cometh unto the Father, but by me”. Acts 4:12 “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, hereby we must be saved”.
- Your name must be written in the Lamb’s book of life.
6. The Believers Eternal Dwelling– John 14:1-3 and 2 Corinthians 5:1 We have a mansion prepared for us to live for all eternity.
- Not an apartment or a room, but a Mansion.
Conclusion: If you are lost- Get saved so you can get to heaven when you die, you certainly don’t want to go to hell. If you are saved- Matthew 6:20 lay up for yourselves in heaven.
