The Order of God’s Creation (Genesis 1-2)

Introduction: In the beginning GOD created, you may not understand it, but you must believe it.  God created all things for His purpose and for His pleasure.

  1. Day One- Genesis 1:3-5 Making light and dividing it from Darkness- because “darkness was upon the face of the deep”, God created the light which is different from the sun. The sun wasn’t created until day four. This light that is seen here was “commanded” by God from God to shine to the earth.
    1. Psalm 74:16 “The day is thine, the night also is thine: thou hast prepared the light and the sun”. There is a difference between God’s Light and God’s Sun. I John 1:5 “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all”.  II Corinthians 4:6 “For God, who command the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts”.
Vs 5- literal 24-hour days “the evening and the morning were the first day”. Also, the vegetation (day 3) came before the sun (day 4), if it were one thousand years in between, it wouldn’t have survived. II Peter 3:8 “But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day”.
  • Day Two– Gensis 1:6-8 Making the firmament (heaven), and separating the waters. Here we see that God creates a firmament (a heaven vs 8) in the midst of the waters and divides the waters with that heaven. Firmament is an expanse.
    • Genesis 1:1 “In the beginning God created the heaven (singular) and the earth”. Genesis 2:1 “Thus the heavens (plural) and the earth were finished”.
      • Three Heavens
    • First Heaven- home of the birds and clouds- Genesis 1:20
    • Second Heaven- home of the sun, moon, and stars Genesis 1:14-19
  • Third Heaven- Where God dwells, departed saints, and angels II Corinthians 12:2
  • Day Three– Genesis 1:9-13 Separating the Land from the water, and making it fruitful. Here we see the creation of plant life, trees, and grass.
    • The dry land is called earth. The gathered waters are called seas.
    • Then God brings the grass, herb, and fruit.  Life was supernaturally created, and it began on dry ground. (This refutes evolution which states that life began aeons ago from a glob of scum floating on some remote ocean surface.)
    • The air is perfectly balanced with oxygen and nitrogen. The water is perfectly placed, a couple more feet of water and the desert would be under water.
  • Day Four– Genesis 1:14-19 Placing the sun, moon, and stars to give light. On this day, God creates the sun, moon, and stars and places them in the second heaven. The sun, moon, and stars were created and placed perfectly. The sun being closer to the earth would melt it, further away and we would freeze to death.
    • As Signs- they remind men of God’s creative work- Psalm 8:3, Romans 1:19-20.
    • As Seasons- they function as a Calander. Days, months, years. Days become months (seasons- Winter, Spring, Summer, Autum). Psalm 104:19 “He appointed the moon for seasons: the sun knoweth his going down”.
  • As Lights- Psalm 136:7-9 Sun and moon, and stars. To give light and light produces heat. Placed exactly where it should, if the sun were closer we would burn to death, if it were further, we would freeze to death.
  • Day Five– Genesis 1:20-23 Creation of Fish and Fowl.
    • The blue sperm whale is longer and heavier than a 737 Boeing jet passenger plane. It can reach a length of 110 feet and weigh 150 tons.
    • “Bring forth after their kind”- evolution is impossible here. Birds bring birds and fish bring fish, their kind.
  • Day Six– Genesis 1:24-31 Making the beast of the field, cattle, and man.
    • Man came forth after his kind- disproves evolution. If you want to believe you came from a monkey, go ahead.
    • Vs 26 “Let us” is a reference to the Trinity being involved- Colossians 1:16-17 Jesus Christ as creator and sustainer.
      • Gen 1:28- Man was to subdue the earth and fill it- procreate.
      • Gen 2:9, 16- Encouraged to enjoy the Earth-
      • Gen 2:17- Was forbidden to eat of the tree of knowledge of good and evil
      • Gen 2:19- was to name all the animals.
      • Gen 2:18-25 He was given a wife. First great institution given by God is marriage. Then human government Genesis 9; and then the Church Matthew 16.
  • Day Seven– Genesis 2:2, 3 God rested. He ceased from what he was doing, God wasn’t tired one bit however, he chose to rest from what he was making.
    • The next 55 verses give us a detailed statements informing us just how God went about doing all that he said he did.

Conclusion: Don’t let anyone deceive you into thinking that everything you see came from a big bang, or that humans evolved from monkeys, God created everything to include us, believe it!
