New Creature in Christ (2 Corinthians 5:17)

II Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, ALL things are become new”.

Introduction: When a person gets saved, believes on the Lord Jesus Christ, the Bible says here that he becomes a new creature and all things are become new. This happens because now you have a new man inside of you, Jesus Christ. This new man inside of you looks at everything differently than the old man, with its fallen sinful nature. If you are a new creature then live like a new creature.

The things that become new include:

  1. What Your Mind Thinks– Philippians 4:8 Think on things that are:
    1. True- not counterfeit, not false.
    2. Honest- upright, free from trickiness and fraud.
    3. Just- conformed to the rules of justice, just balances, just weights.
    4. Pure- Free from moral defilement, without spot.
    5. Lovely- things that excite love.
    6. Good Report- reports your hear from others.
  1. What Your Ears Hear– I Samuel 16:14-23 Godly music affects a person, mentally- “refreshed”, physically- “was well”, and spiritually- “evil spirit departed”.
    1. Listen to good music, it will refresh you, make you well, and make evil spirits depart from you. Ephesians 5:19 “Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord”. Classical music.
    2. Listen to the Bible- Romans 10:17 “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God”. (Scourby while reading my Bible).
  1. What Your Eyes See– Matthew 6:22-23 Single Eye- Pure, simple, incorrupt, unbiased, having clear vision of divine truth; Evil Eye-
    1. Movies- Rated R (violence nudity)
    2. Commercials about Alcohol- (They show the fun not the bad effects).
    3. News- it’s all negative- they’re looking for ratings.
    4. Facebook- You only see the great things (never see the bad).
  1. What Your Mouth Says– Colossians 3:1-4, 7-9 Filthy Communication- mean, evil, dirty.  Lying- Afraid of Consequences, Don’t want to disappoint someone, protect himself or others.

5. Where Your Feet Go– Ephesians 6:15 “and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace”. Before your feet went to parties, bars, etc.

Beautiful Feet- Romans 10:15 “And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!”

6. Whom You Serve– Romans 6:16-20 Before salvation you (“were the servants of sin”) after salvation (“obeyed from the heart”), you (“became the servants of righteousness”).

As a servant, you choose to serve- Titus 1:1 “Paul, a servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ”.  John 8:34-36

Conclusion: If you have believed on the Lord Jesus Christ you are saved- you are a new creature, and all things have become new. And because all things have become new, you should live like it.
