Responsibilities of the Home (Ephesians 5 – 6)

The Husband’s Responsibility toward His Wife:

Love Her– Ephesians 5:25 Sacrificially. Show it not just say it. Fell in love, stay in love.

Five Love Languages- Words of affirmation-compliment; Quality Time- undivided attention/conversation; Physical touch- hugs and kisses; Acts of service- doing helpful things; Receiving gifts- thoughtful gifts.

Cherish Her– Ephesians 5:28-29 Nourish- fed; supplied with nutriment. Cherish- hold dear; treat with tenderness and affection.

Honor Her– I Peter 3:7 (respect, reverence, esteem). Speak kindly to her and about her to others.

Cleave unto Her– Genesis 2:23-24 cleave- be united closely; to adhere with strong attachment. Like glue on tape.

The Wife’s Responsibility toward Her Husband:

Love Him– Titus 2:4 teach others by sating and doing.

Submit to Him– Ephesians 5:22-24, 33 (Reverence- fear mingled with respect and esteem) Wives do this because of his position and authority.

Show him Trust– Proverbs 31:10-11

Do him good and not Evil– Proverbs 31:12

Children’s Responsibility toward their Parents:

Honor Parents– (respect, reverence, esteem). When you do this, you will live long on the earth. Ephesians 6:1-3 “Tat it may be well with thee”.

Proverbs 30:11 “There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother”.

Obey Parents– When you do this, God will be well pleased. Colossians 3:20 “Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord”.

Conclusion: If husbands, wives, and children do these things, the home will be full of peace and it will operate flawlessly, the way God designed it to operate.
