Introduction: In this message we will see six reasons for Jesus Christ coming to this world. Why did Jesus Christ have to leave his home in heaven, become a man on this earth, and die on the cross of calvary? These are the reasons why.
Jesus Christ Came To:
- Pay A Ransom– Mark 10:45 “and to give his life a ransom for many”. When the ransom is paid, it is known as being Redeemed, that is to deliver by paying a price. Because of one man, sin came into the world, and someone had to pay for the sins of the world. Jesus Christ gave his life in exchange (ransom), as a substitute for many. Jesus death on the cross paid for our sins, nothing else would do.
- Jesus paid the Price of the Ransom– I Corinthians 6:19-20 “For ye are bought with a price”. The price was the death of Jesus Christ.
- Jesus paid the ransom with His Blood– Acts 20:28 “which he hath purchased with his own blood”.
- Jesus paid it with His Body– Hebrews 7:27 “offered up himself” / Hebrews 10:10 “through the offering of the body” / Hebrews 10:12, 14 “one sacrifice for sins for ever”.
- Jesus paid it Because the Law Couldn’t– Hebrews 10:1-4 The law couldn’t save anyone from their sins, that’s why Jesus Christ had to come and offer up himself a ransom. Galatians 3:13 “Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree”.
- This required a perfect lamb without spot or blemish- John 1:29 “Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world”.
- Sin was the cause and Christ was the cure- He paid the ransom that was owed for sin. The ransom that was paid wasn’t just money but it was a life, that is, the life of Jesus Christ. (The sins were atoned (covered) but not forgiven).
- Seek and Save The Lost– Luke 19:10 “For the Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost”. This is the story of Zacchaeus, a tax collector who sought to see Jesus and then received him joyfully. Luke 15:1-7 even Jesus Christ went after one sinner- It was worth it. Jesus Christ appeared to Zacchaeus vs 9 “This day is salvation come to this house”. This morning Jesus Christ is seeking for you to save you from your lost condition, just like He did with Zacchaeus. You have to recognize that you are not righteous, but you can become righteous in Him. Get saved today!
- Light up The World– John 12:46 “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness”. Jesus Christ came to this world to be light in the darkness- in other words, so that we could live clean lives in the light and not dirty lives in darkness. Ephesians 5:8 “For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light”. Ephesians 5:11 “And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them”. The light of Jesus keeps us our of darkness- John 12:35. Darkness is where the evil deeds take place. The light of Jesus keeps us walking in the light- John 8:12 “Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followers me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life”. Romans 13:12 “let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light”I John 1:6 “If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth”.
- Call Sinners to Repentance– Luke 5:32 “I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance”. Jesus Christ is still calling sinner to repentance even thou he has ascended to the Father, how? He is doing it through us, the believers John 14:12 John 14:12 “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works that these shall he do; because I go unto my Father”.
- Jesus came to Save Sinners– I Timothy 1:13-16 “Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners”. Jesus is calling sinner to repent through: Your testimony, Your witness, gospel tracts, NT Bibles.
- Defy Households– Matthew 10:35-39 “/ Luke 12:51-53 “nay but rather division”. Saved vs lost. Living for God vs not living for God. A life of Righteousness or a life of Sin. Pleasureless and possessions of the world, earthly desires. No family can reach their full potential without God, He must be first. Husband / Wife/ Triangle illustration- they are closer to each other as they get closer to God.
- Give Life– John 10:10 “I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly”. Life only comes to a man by believing in Jesus Christ. A man outside of Jesus Christ only exists.Life is the opposite of dying Life is satisfaction Life is security and enjoymentWhen you believe in Jesus Christ, eternal life begins right away. You being to experience Galatians 5:22-23 Love, Joy, Peace, Long-suffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance. “I was existing on this earth, but now I’m living!”
Conclusion: Jesus Christ had a purpose for coming into this World. We have seen six reasons why Jesus came into the World.
