How to Get Your Prayers Answered

Introduction: Do you want your prayers answered? Are you certain that God is hearing your prayers? To have your prayers heard and answered by God there are somethings we must do.

To get your prayers answered, you must:

  1. Trust The Lord- Psalm 37:4-5 “trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass”. God wants us to trust Him completely, about everything. Yet when something happens, we immediately call someone about a certain situation and ask what they think instead of completely trusting in God.

Trust in the Lord, don’t put confidence in man- Psalm 118:8 “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man”.

Trust in the Lord, don’t lean unto your own understanding- Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with ALL thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding”.

2. Get Rid of Sin- Psalm 66:18 “If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me”. Sin in the life of a believer will not only destroy him, but it will turn away God’s ear from his prayers. Why should God answer your prayers if you chose sin over Him? Sin in the life of a believer must be forsaken and repented of- John 9:31 “Now we know that God heareth not sinners”.

3. Believe God is Able- Mark 11:24 “What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them”. We are Bible Believers; we must believe that God is able to do that which he has promised in His Word. We are not the “name it and claim it” crowd however, we must believe that God is willing and able.

4. Ask God- James 4:2 “yet ye have not, because ye ask not”. One of the main reasons why Christians don’t have more is because they don’t stop to pray and ask God for something. That may sound surprising and even shocking but it’s the truth. If you don’t ask, God is not obligated to do anything about it.

5. Ask in the Name of Jesus- John 14:13 “And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do”. John 16:23-24 “Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you”. Pray in “Jesus’ name”. It is Jesus the one who has power to do according to what you ask.

Ask in the name of Jesus not the virgin Mary, the pope, a lost loved one, or other saints, they can’t do anything for you.

6. Obey God’s Word- I John 3:22 “we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight”. We have been given the Words of God in this King James Bible for a purpose. We were given these words to read and obey them. What good is it to know what to do but to disobey what it is says?

7. Pray According to God’s Will- I John 5:14-15 “if we ask anything according to his will, he heareth us”. One of the things that will do us a lot of good is finding out what things are the will of God and do them.

Your Lust is not according to His Will- James 4:3 “Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts”. Praying for a Corvette.

Conclusion: As we have seen, there are some things that we can do that will withhold God from answering our prayers. If we want our prayers answered by God, we must make sure that we are doing at least these things.
