Five Reason We Must Preach The Gospel (Mark 16:14-16)

Introduction: In this message we want to look at five reason why every believer must preach the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We preach the Gospel because:

1. We are Commanded to do So– Mark 16:14-16 “And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature”. This command was given to the disciples of Jesus Christ by Jesus Christ however, it is for us too. This is something that every believer must be doing.

The Command- “Go”- go means go. Jesus Christ never justified any excuse to not go and preach the gospel. Too scared, don’t know enough Bible, not eloquent, I have to work.

The Person- “Ye”- Ye means all of us.

The Place- “Into all the world”- Kingsville is our world. Our work place and family is our world because others reach them like we can. For God to call you to another country it first must be done here, locally. If it’s not done here, it won’t be done somewhere else.

The Purpose- “Preach the gospel”- I Corinthians 15:1-3. This is not mans opinion, philosophy, ideas, thoughts, beliefs or even religion.

2. The Field is Ready– John 4:34-36 “Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest”.

  • “Lift up your eyes”- Christians are walking around with their heads down looking on their phone instead of lifting up their eyes to what’s happening in front of them. Looking down and focused on the affairs of this world.
  • “Look on the fields”- There are fields of people streaming around the world. Consider that there is a soul inside every single person. Look beyond the physical into the spiritual.
  • “Already to harvest”- When it’s time to harvest, it’s go time. These souls are ready for harvesting right now.
  • There is always a need for laborers- Matthew 9:37-38 WE MUST PRAY for LABORERS.

3. Time is Running Out– Romans 13:11-12 “The night is far spent, the day is at hand”. I Thessalonians 5:1-9. In scripture the “church age”, the time between the resurrection of Jesus and the return of Christ, is referred to as night. The day of the Lord to is referred as the time when Jesus Christ will return to set up his millennial reign on this earth, after the tribulation.

  • In other words, we are running out of time. One day very soon we will either die and meet God or we will be raptured out of this earth into heaven to meet God.
  • Do you sense the urgency? Jude 1:22 “And of some have compassion, making a difference: And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted but the flesh”.
  • Like the prophets of old, warning the people with urgency.

4. The Lord Jesus Christ set the Example– Luke 19:10 “Seek and Save” Jesus sought Zacchaeus and saved him. Luke 15:4 “What man of you, having an hundred sheep, if he lose one of them, doth not leave the ninety and nine in the wilderness, and go after that which is lost, until he find it”.

Luke 4:18 Preach to the poor. Poor in material possessions but also poor in spirit.

5. Sinners are Dying and Going to Hell– Luke 16:19-31

  • Vs 22-23 The rich man was in hell; Lazarus was in Paradise
  • Vs 23 The rich man could see glory; Lazarus was in Glory
  • Vs 24 The rich man was in a place that had flames; Lazarus was in a place that had water
  • Vs 25 The rich man was tormented; Lazarus was comforted
  • Vs 25 The rich man remembered his former life; Lazarus was silent
  • Vs 26 The rich man was fixed in hell; Lazarus was fixed in Paradise
  • Vs 31 The rich man was unable to intercede for his family; Lazarus was at rest.

Conclusion: Hopefully these reasons why we must preach the gospel have been a good reminder to do it and not just talk about it. Time is short, will you do what we’ve been commanded to do?
