Titus 2:11 “for the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men”.
Introduction: This grace of God spoken of here has appeared to all men but also notice how it brings salvation. This grace of God is the Lord Jesus Christ himself. The Lord Jesus Christ has appeared to all man and he offers salvation to anyone who will receive it. Not only salvation, but the grace of God also teaches us some things that a believer should know. These things will make us a better Christian, a better witnesses, and give us a better testimony.
Grace: the free unmerited love and favor of God. (Not getting what we deserve)
1.The grace of God Brings Salvation- VS 11- “that bringeth salvation”- This grace of God has appeared to every person in this room, in the form of the Lord Jesus Christ and He offers forgiveness, reconciliation, and mercy. God’s grace, the Lord Jesus Christ, saves the person that: Romans 3:23– “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God”. Romans 3:10- “as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
However, this is the Good News: God’s grace, the Lord Jesus Christ is the savior of the World. Jesus already paid the price in full so that you don’t have to. Jesus is extending that grace of God to you. You can be saved from sin, death, and hell. I Corinthians 15:3-4 “For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Chris died for our sins according to the scriptures: And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third according to the scriptures”. Ephesians 2:8-9 “for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast”.
2. The grace of God Teaches us what to deny and how to live- VS 12- “Teaching us”. Salvation is great, but it’s only the first step in Christian living. After we believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the grace of God that brings salvation, then we can move on to doing what he teaches us to do.
Deny Ungodliness: Anything that is not Godly, Holy, righteous, pure, that does not honor God, that is against God, that defiles God. I Peter 1:16 “Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy”.
Deny worldly lust: These are the desires that crave the possessions of this world, most of which have to do with selfishness and fleshly pleasure.
I John 2:16- “For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world”.
Matthew 16:26 “For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Live Soberly– self-controlled, temperate, disciplined. Never given to excess, controlling the appetites of this world.
Live Righteously– doing right, doing good, not defrauding one another.
Live godly- According to every Word in this Bible, obeying everything He says in His word. “Godly is the man that has God in his thoughts”.
3. The grace of God Is in Christ’s Death- VS 14- “who gave himself for us”. Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinner, Christ died for us”. The grace of God is revealed in the death of Jesus Christ, and he did it to do these things:
To have a peculiar people- to be peculiar is to be weird, not common, different, not of this world. I Peter 2:9-“But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, and holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should show forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvelous light”.
Zealous of Good works- When this person really gets what God has done for him, he is fully given to Christ, he wants to follow and serve God. He wants to work for Him, not because he has to earn his way into heaven, but because he counts it a privilege to do.
4. The grace of God Should be Shared with others- Vs 15- “These things speak”. We are to speak about the grace of God every opportunity we get. Preach, teach, and bear witness to it. People are lonely, empty, without purpose, and they are yearning for something they believe and trust for their souls. Speak- Declare and proclaim Exhort- urge, to warn, to incite or stimulate Rebuke– to reprove
Conclusion: The grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, the lost person needs to consider what is at stake if you reject it. The saved person needs to consider the thing taught by it, and live it as best as we can.
